Social hobbies with exercise.?

I need to do a social hobbie with exercise involved. I want something interesting and not a team sport. any ideas?

  2. Walking, hiking, weightlifting, and swimming are all great hobbies that involve exercise and can be done solo.

    You could also try power stamp collecting, just make sure you stick the landing ;-)

  3. Take up dancing - ballroom is very social but whatever kind appeals will do, and it's wonderful exercise. Many high schools and park districts offer reasonably-priced classes for older teens or adults. I made long-term friends in an 'aquacize' (pool aerobics) class. Get involved with a 'mall-walkers' group (many shopping malls open their doors early to people who want to walk in a safe, climate-controlled environment without the expense of joining a gym).

  4. How about racquetball?  It's a lot of fun and great excercise!  It's usually played with two people, but there are 3 and 4 player versions, too.

    Here's there are both indoor and outdoor racquetball courts, so we can play it in any weather.  When I started, I didn't know a soul that played, but I made several friends and sure have toned myself while having great fun!
