Question:

Social security screwed up...?

My father is disabled, and I was supposed to get money upto age 18. I hadn't been receiving it, so about last year [when I was 21] they paid me the balance in full.

Now I'm getting paperwork this year saying I owe them more than half of that money back because THEY screwed up and gave me the wrong amount. Meanwhile I signed paperwork for the $$ and also questioned them to make sure it was the correct amount I was receiving.

I'm a fulltime student, parttime worker. I barely have enough to pay my bills as it is. I DO NOT have the money to pay them back! I used ALL of that money for bills last year. [paid off car insurance, etc] Is there any way I can fight this? Considering I have no belongings that they can even compensate the amount they gave me for? My parents say to fight it, because it's unfair, and I own NOTHING. I literally have $5 to my name right now. Ugh.
