Can anyone tell me where i can download pictures of hair cutting to make a social story to help my son who has autism

  1. I suggest you don't download generic pictures but take pictures of individuals your son is familiar with and incorporate them in your social story. Ideally it would be great to do it with the same stylist, in the same salon he would use.

    I also recommend short trips to make him familiar with the salon, or have him watch other family members get their hair cut. We started out in small steps, no shampoos at first, stylist would just spritz his hair lightly with water, only do his bangs first - what got him hooked is when the stylist put a cape on him and told him he looked like his favorite super hero batman. We've seen the same stylist for years, we used to go only during the quiet hours of the day (keep in mind there are a lot of things that can create problems, the noise, the number of people and the smells).  Now he manages at any time of the day.

    When my son was much younger (he's 16 now) washing his hair and hair cuts were difficult until I discovered the source of his primary fear - getting water in his eyes.  Letting him hold a dry wash cloth over his eyes helped and even when he goes to the salon if he wants a towel for over his face I make sure he has one.
