I'm often told how Scandinavia is a model on which to build a society. Everything's perfect here, especially after Michael Moore came along and praised our welfare system and out socialized healthcare.
It's so very beautiful here, isn't it? Now, some Americans - an increasingly bigger number - want America to go down the same alley. Well, I'm sorry folks, I've simply got to break you heart with this. Socialism, as it's practised in Denmark (where I'm from) is anything but perfect.
I could mention a lot of bad things about Denmark, e.g. a healthcare system that sucks, a tax-burden of over 50% on work and the 300% tax when registering a car for use on the road.
Even worse, though, is what is becoming even more evident these days: tax-burdens in excess of 100%. That's right. Some actually pay more than 100% in taxes, here in Denmark. Is this the kind of "perfect society" you're looking for with your welfare and socialized medicine? Penalizing hard work!?
