Sevilla were delivered another blow in their already slumping season as they were beaten 2-1 by Real Sociedad, who continued their 7 match unbeaten run.
Real Sociedad and Sevilla faced each other in their La Liga encounter as both the sides looked to gain the maximum points from the clash.
Sevilla have had a troubled season so far and were in dire need of the three points, which could see them bringing their season back on track.
Sociedad on the other hand were enjoying a purple patch, and were unbeaten in the last 6 La Liga meetings, home and away.
The night turned out to be a bad one for Sevilla as they lost 2-1 to Sociedad and their slumping season was delivered yet another blow by the Basque club.
The win has now seen Sociedad go unbeaten for 7 matches in the domestic competition.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Vela-c8558 netted the opener for the home side in the 18th minute and gave them a 1-0 lead.
The Mexican forward received a pass from fellow team mate Antoine Griezmann inside the penalty area, and he made no mistake from close range as he slotted his shot past Sevilla’s goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Lopez.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Medel-c14446 then equalised for the away side in the 50th minute and the match seemed to have become a much tighter affair, as both the sides started to take a gamble and tried taking all the three points at stake.
However, it was the home side that again went in to the lead in the 68th minute as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 de la Bella scored what proved to be the winner.
Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 put in a hopeful cross in the visitor’s penalty area, and as it lurked for the far post, de la Bella was there to poke it home, at the right time.
The visitors were dealt with another blow in the 74th minute as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Moreno was given his marching orders by the referee. It was his second bookable offence and he had to depart for an early shower.
Sociedad held on to the lead and saw the game out.
The win has now taken the home side to 7th place in La Liga standings.
