Question:

Society of Violence?

If you quickly read a list of recently released movies and songs you will notice that movies and songs reflect society's lust for violence today.

We just love to see blood on the big screen or listen to a song about killing, raping and mugging, right?

We can blame Hollywood and song writers today for promoting gruesomely disturbing movies and/or lyrics that become reality to us all.

In today's society, for example, Abbott and Costello movies would seem dull, stupid, lost in time and just plain silly.

People want to see the worst a human eye can see and hear the worst that can be said.

  1. I wouldn't blame Hollywood.  They just produce more of what sells the best.  So, they follow rather than lead.  Society likes violence more, because people are basically angrier than they use to be.

I am no religious person at all, but I strongly believe that this anger is due to what those crazya.ss religious fanatics call the erosion of values.  I'm g*y, so I obviously don't agree with them on many things.  But there is a lot of truth to the fact that many people now don't know a thing about honesty, service to others, loyalty, beauty, work/effort, patience, etc.....

Most people are much more into a quick and painless solution to all of their problems, yet don't realize that their problems often arise from their own self centeredness and their useless fears.

Entertainment of the violent sort not only allows for some sort of by proxy outlet for their anger, but it also allows people to more easily escape reality for a while.  A movie that is slower moving and makes you think is not what most people want now, because these types of movies ASK something from the viewer.  They make you ask yourself about some hard questions of life sometimes.  But the regular selfcentered person who just wants to be entertained, will go for the double bonus of a violence outlet with that ecstacy of the adrenline rush when these violent movies scare them.  Just my humble opinion.

  2. That this is what happens when families are put on hold and both parents are focusing on their careers instead of their children which are being raised practically by schools and government programs.

The kids are seeing violence as at least everyday ordinary and ultimately no big deal if not an acceptable or even "strong" lifestyle.

It is the aftermath of family values going down the drain.

  3. Society is fine tuning and the mongers are trying to make as much money as possible off of it.

look at wrestling. why would anyone watch overgrown musclemen grappling each other with little swatches of clothing?

look at racing. you must know everyone is waiting for the crashes.

we all stop and look at an accident scene to see if we catch a glimpse of a body.

it's human nature. except rap just plain sucks.:)

  4. I see it the way you said. Because our society thinks they need to see violence or likes to see it, the movie producers and song writers produce more so they appeal to the society or a majority. How we ever got to this point? I do not know. I do know though it is really sad and pathetic. It used to be fairytales but now it's just about crime and violence.

  5. violence will always and forever be enjoyed by people.  GLadiators used to fight to the death, watched by thousands of people.  I dont know what it is, but we like it.
