THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR.......

American media has a major influence in today’s youth’s health. Media accounts as most likely to be the most destructive force to our children today, being blamed for both teens being dangerously overweight, or dangerously underweight.

Im suppose to define a sociological problem in todays society.

Whereas im suppose to include independent/dependent variables to define the problem. I have one dependent variable being that media is the blame of todays overweight/underweight youth.

MY QUESTION IS: What would be another dependent variable?

  1. I also believe that your Independent variable is the media (i.e. photos of emaciated models, encouragement to lose weight, articles about the importance of losing weight etc).... a dependent variable would be the child's being overweight or underweight since birth.    Also a dependent variable would be the parents' encouragement to gain or lose weight.

  2. dependent:peer pressure,bullying

  3. Another dependant variable would be something similar to the first one

  4. If you are studying how the media AFFECTS youth, then "the media" is your INdependent variable. Some dependent measures (i.e., dependent variables) that you could use are children's weight, measurements of self-esteem, measurements of physical and mental health, number of hours spent watching TV/viewing ads, etc. Make sense?
