I need to come up with a socioligical research question and I'm really interested in religion, not in a good way though, I think the world would be better off without any religions of any kind. So does anyone have any suggestions for my research topic? :D

  1. Well, I will remind you, that Sociology is not a tool which we use to prove that we are right when we say "the world would be better off without any religions of any kind" as in this case. When we do a research we must try to forget what we already know and try to discover . The things as they are which will help us not only to check if we are right or not. This way we will also understand why the things are it this situation, which are the reasons for that etc.

In your situation you have a hypothesis that "the world would be better off without any religions of any kind". And you have to check this. Is this hypothesis right or not, if it is why or why not. To understand if your hypothesis is right you must look at the different processes like; religious wars; the religious effects over science during the midages and everything you think of when you talk think over your suggestion. In the same time you must not forget things like the etics that the religions develope, have inn mind that things like the marriage are connected with the religion.

After you have included all points of the religions which you think have effect over the "world" you are ready for your analysis that must be based on the things you have included in your study so far.  Then the correct conclusion will probably look like. In concern with the tentions which the religions spark petween people it is no good. Same thing for all things you have been looking at.

    I hope I could help ;)

  2. Miracles have a lot to do with religion. Try asking how many people ever had a big miracle in their life.

  3. I tend to agree with you that we would be better off without religion.  A lot of the trouble were sparked off because of religions.  I always maintain that religion is an escape for the mind.  It plays on those who need something to relly on.  It is no more than a branch of philosophy.  A study to help guide our behaviours towards each other.  It is so ridiculously hypocritical of politicians to attend churches which say love thy neighbours; then they come out start fighting for power on the pretense of religions. Those with weaker minds take to religions heavily.  Everything is god's will, good or bad.  Do they not take any responsibility of their own doings?  And to some, the only times they become religious is when they start swearing!!!!
