  1. how bif is the salary??

bif i hope..(sorry, but wt f is bif?)

anyway..i would love to know why you are asking this question..but i will answer it to the best of my abilities for my own selfish reasons i.e. i am a sociology student and might as well think about this now!

many things they can do..i havent checked yet but i dont think if you job seek sociologist you are going to find much!

I know if you have a degree w. sociology major or something then i guess it depends on....well for example im doing a lot of methods subjects so i will have a good to reasonable idea coming out of uni about this topics. also depending on my grades i guess..

as far as private hire is concerned..who knows..maybe in the next 10-20 years there will be more call for it..we can all dream..

    :)

  2. Presumably you are coming out of undergrad, and you are either getting your BA or BS in sociology.  I just graduated from college a few years ago, and my sociology-major friends are in a number of fields.  They work in insurance, as a program director for a company, in the state congress, in a juvenile detention building, etc.  There are a lot of options.  Personally, I went on to graduate school.

The thing with a sociology degree, or any liberal arts degree, is that you aren't necessarily there to learn a trade (like you would if you went to dental hygenist or auto mechanic school).  You are learning a set of skills that you can later apply.  You are learning to think critically and develop interesting arguments.  You are learning how to speak and write coherently.  You are learning to see the world beyond your experience.  College is a time to learn about being a more well-rounded, informed individual.  That is what employers are looking for when they see you have a liberal arts degree.

The link in the sources is a link to a guide of what you can do with a soc degree.  About 3/4 of the way down it talks about the various fields where sociologists fit.

As for how big the salary is... it depends.  It depends on where you live (cost of living greatly impacts how much you make... so you will make more in DC than you would in Podunk Kansas, but it would also cost more to live in DC), but it also depends on what field you go into.  Often, when you start out, you'll make between $28-32K, plus benefits.  However, with experience you'll be able to move your way up the corporate ladder.

    Hope this helps...

  3. actually a sociology major can work in the company, they can work especially in the research department and training, they can be consultants..^_^
