Question:

Sociology as a major?

I am planning on being an Elementary school teacher, and do not believe I made it into the program here, due to recently changing my mind to teach.

Has anyone been a Soc. major and became a teacher, do you think that it helped out? or do you not recommend this major?

I am planning on going onto my Masters degree after I graduate.

thanks!

  1. my opinion is to try to get back in the field of teaching..unless you're going to be a soc teacher then stay away from it..and im sorry but the comment about it helping you understand your students behaivor is not true, im about to get my bachelors in sociology in may and that is not AT ALL what sociology is about..

  2. Sure it helps. but you don't need it to be a teacher.  you would make more money as a psychologist but if teaching is you passion go ahead and take a socio class it will help you understand the children you teach and to have better control over their behaviors.
