  1. Sociology Major and a Minor in Marketing.....

    Work for an advertising firm.

You are going to wow them with your Sociology Major!

  2. I was a sociology major who now works in marketing. That would be a good choice, as would economics (the financial side of sociology, in my opinion) or English, if you want to be an advertising writer or just want to improve your writing ability, which (again IMHO) is getting worse overall among new college graduates and entry-level white collar employees.

  3. Theater, art, music, law, or education would compliment Sociology.

I am also a Sociology major and I switched to it after majoring in mass-communications because learning about how society works so that you understand how to manipulate and sell things to people seemed unethical to me. I was in it at first because I'm creative, good at public relations, and marketing and was told there is allot of money in it.  But the reasons there are allot of money in it is because there is a sucker born every minute. I agree with Spiderman's dad, "With great power comes great responsibility."  So my suggestion is don't use your knowledge of Sociology for evil. There are more important things than money. And there are other ways for you to make a living while being creative. I think if you didn't care about social justice you probably wouldn't be majoring in Sociology.

  4. Well, off the top of my head, sociology would give you good demographic tools that could be valuable, say, in a marketing career, make you a smarter marketer.  You would be more likely to make money in the marketing field in private industry, but sociology could help you get various government jobs (which seem a lot more stable these days).  So this combination of majors would make you flexible in the job market.  But bear in mind the trend seems to be specialization, even in majors.  So if you have a few specific careers in mind, be sure to check their current requirements you would need to quality.
