someone I know doesnt believe so.

Even after I showed him a date on a bottle of diet water (yes, I know, diet water doesnt make sence), he thinks soda NEVER goes bad.

  1. By regulation all food products are required to have an expiration date of three years or less.  So even if a food product could last forever packed in nitrogen, it will still have an expiration date of three years from packing. Unless exposed to a lot of heat it is unlikely that any soda would ever go bad. There is just not enough food value in it.

  2. If it still has fizz, it's still good.

  3. Things like soda and canned foods didn't even used to have expiration dates.  Since they have, the dates are usually years after the manufacturing date.

As long as the soda hasn't been laying around for like, years, it should be okay...again, do check for the fizz.

We bought beer, years ago, very cheap, because it was old.  The store owner assured us it was good, but there was dirt (like sawdust) inside the bottles, and it had a weird taste.  What had happened was the store was renovated, and this beer had been in the basement for some time (probably VERY long).

I guess anything can go bad nowadays...except soap.  We were assured that soap, no matter how old and wrinkly it looks is never bad, LOL!

  4. Don't think it would kill you but if is really old and unopened it could be worth something someday.  Bottled water goes bad.  I am a chef at a restaurant in Atlanta and the owner showes the kitchen staff a case of bottled water he found while cleaning out the stock room.  It was from the 1996 olympics.  some of the water was gone.  Plus the plastic bottles are not 100% sterile so anyting not killed inside the bottle will start to grow under the right conditions.

  5. Taste it and see if it's flat.

  6. I would taste test it.

I imagine it will be OK.

  7. As far as I know it will not go 'off' as long as it hasn't been opened.

  8. Sodas do go bad.  When they do they tend to taste fermented.  The fizz is still there but the taste is lousy.  I always check the expiration dates in stores before buying sodas.  Most stores, especially Walmart, do not rotate their stock properly, hence, out of date merchandise is always a possiblity.

  9. I don't think it will kill you but it might taste like c**p.  Even regular water has an expiration date.
