as many may know, mountain dew is holding a webpage vote to make one of three temporary mountain dews permanent. from the current results, it looks like the two that WONT make it are flavors "revolution" and "supernova." well i was recently watching an episode of antiques roadshow where popular beer cans from the 1890's to 1950's were drained by a small cut in the bottom and in good condition had a large accumulated value in the hundreds, some even thousands. i was wondering if that could also work with soda cans. these two temporary brands will not be permanent and therefor will be very rare in the years to come. now supposing i drained both cans from the bottom, snd saved them. do you think that as an 18 year old, i could have something of some value much later in life? i'm willing to give it a try. theres alot of soda pop memorabilia from the 20's to 50's and i thought that maybe these limited edition cans could some day be a rare novelty. what do you guys think?

  1. Yeah , I'd save it becasue think about it alot of people collect strange things look at all the pez collectors

  2. i doubt it.....mountain dew has done similar "limited" releases before that have extended far beyond their original scope......such as mountain dew livewire, which cause the prices to significantly depreciate for these special releases..............additionally saving something for which the prices for what now and up to 35 years from now will still be worthless is pointless, at the point it actually does gain value the amount will be so small you'll be looking to make maybe 50 cents at best on your original investment.....look to Billy Beer (a beer from the 1970s-80s promoted by Billy Carter, brother of the former president) as an example of such an occurence, people saved those thinking they would be worth a lot more than they ever amounted to........also consider that the ancient cans you mention sold for so much because there were a lot fewer people with your mindset living back in the 1890s, how many people at the turn of the century do you think were actually saving cans of beer in order to sell them at some unspecified future date?
