Soft Falling Rain stamps authority at Meydan
Soft Falling Rain stamped authority in the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial Sponsored by Dubai Duty Free Jumeirah Creekside on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was in control of the proceedings from the start until the end and no one really managed to cause many problems
for him.
The four-year-old colt was rated as the outright favourite to succeed in the race and was given a general starting price of 7 to 4. He did not disappoint his fans and the bookmakers in the race, winning by two and a half lengths.
As soon as the traps were opened, Soft Falling Rain pressed hard to pressurise his opponents. He gained the lead soon and got way ahead of his rivals. From then onwards, he kept on running on the same pace and did not have any troubles winning the race.
His trainer, Mike de Kock, was simply pleased with the overall result and praised his challenger from South Africa. He hoped that things would continue moving in the same fashion and more victories will come his way in the future.
According to the trainer, “We know he (Soft Falling Rain) is a very good horse but he had to show us that he handled this Tapeta surface and that he would stay seven furlongs under his Group 1 penalty. He has answered all those questions in style and we
hope he will stay the extra furlong in the Guineas itself.”
He went onto say, “The UAE Derby trip of one mile one furlong might stretch him too far and we could stick at a mile with the Godolphin Mile in mind but we will see how the Guineas goes first.”
Soft Falling Rain has been competitive since the start of his career, as he has never been beaten by any other challenger. He has participated in a total of four events, winning all of them, which means that he has a 100 percent winning record.
National Assembly’s son was rated as the favourite to succeed in his first ever race and he has always been given the highest odds for victory by the bookies. He has managed to meet the expectations on all occasions and will be hoping to do the same in the
future.
