Question:

Soft Foods? Please help? Having surgery?

ok, in about a week i am going in for oral surgery. my surgeon said i need to eat soft foods for about three months. i don't like yogurt very much, soup is gross to me, and i dont want to live off of ice cream for three months.

what type of foods would you suggest for me to eat while i am in pain?

o yeah i am allergic to nuts and nut oils.

  1. So you're life is suddenly changing, eh? Your dislikes are limiting your ability to eat.

    Some people have appetites so peculiar that were they in your position they might STARVE!

    My suggestion :: loosen your likes and dislikes a little. There are so many foods you might like if you tried them. Not weird thing like fried cockroaches, but things that are 'normal' to millions of people around the world.

    For instance saying, "I hate soup" really limits your ability to really enjoy a soup you might really like if you tried it! Have you had Gazpacho, a chilled Spanish soup? How about chilled Vichyssoises? I had peach soup once, delicious and good.

    I'm just suggesting that you relax your taste buds for a while.

    rice pudding

    popsicles

    bread pudding

    ham and beans (just eat the beans and drink the broth)

    grilled cheese

    untoasted poptarts

    white rice with brown sugar (its REALLY GOOD!)

  6. Aw, I'm sorry! I had this problem when I got my wisdom teeth out, too.  Try these:

    Smoothies

    apple sauce

    milkshakes

    gatorade

    pudding

    mashed potatoes

    Try to eat soup and yogurt though..they are healthier than ice cream and pudding.

  7. Well when my mother went into oral surgery she had:



    lots of apple sauce because she loves it and it tastes good

    cream of corn warmed with mashed potatoes and pured peas as dinners snacks could be fruit smoothie no yogurt needed. baby food is always good healthy and comes in many verities.

  9. Oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, soft scrambled eggs, masked potatoes, brocolli and rice casserole if the broccolli is chopped up fine, mac and cheese with tiny pasta, milk and egg custards are wonderful, pudding, rice, yogurt, jello.

    I think any casserole that contains rice, finely chopped veggies and finely chopped meat.  Maybe something like rice, cream of mushroon soup, finely chopped chicken and some finely chopped onion.
