Soft howling in close back woods...coyote, or bird??

Question

(Mostly in the morning). For 2 weeks now-We hear a soft baying, like a sad old bloodhound, coming from the back thick woods. When we go out back to look, it stops. When we go back in, it'll start up again.

(alto tone) woooooOOOOOoooooo... Coyote? When I lived in Wareham I'd heard coyotes yap & yip but not howl. Maybe it could be a bird?

more than likely it is a baby bird looking for it mommy.  I have the same thing happen at my house and later one found the bird
