Softball foul ball hitter?

Im a lefty and I play fastpitch softball and i've always been an decent hitter. most of my hits will go toward the 3rd base side but there still fair other times they will go toward CF.[ I know that i should be hitting toward 1st base]But lately all my hits are either foul balls to the 3rd base side not the 1st which is were they should be going.

How can i correct my hitting my coach says to "choak up on the bat"

am i swing to late or something else maybe ?

because i never hit to right field, where my hits should be going.

mind you im not a horrible player ive been on the all star team for 3 years in a row but this year i am not because my batting is inconsistent. one game i will have a tripple or doubble and like 5 RBI's the next game ill strike out or get walked.

So if you have any idea how i can hit how a lefty should that would be a great help, because i will be playing in my playoff games and i would like to fix my batting.

( i know a lot of words for a simpleish question)

  1. ya u have to position your feet right where you want to hit it to and swing earlier than wat u usually do

  2. Actually, I think that it's better to hit to the third-base side. It's harder for the fielders to make the throw to first. Basically, I think what you are doing is fine.

To answer your question, you're swinging the bat too late. You need to prepare and swing faster. Your coach told you to "choke up" because it increases your bat speed.

So to solve this problem, work on swinging quicker. Taking practice swings with two bats or a heavier bat than you use should help you out because you'll naturally swing faster when using a lighter bat.

    Hope this helps!
