Softball helpp!!!!!?

Question

okay..latelymy bat hasnt been hitting far at all. it makes a wierd sound when i hit it. is there a way to know if it is dead or cracked?

Well if you are hitting the ball squarely at the meat of bat, and it still doesn't sound right, then it could be dented or cracked. It's easier to see a dent than a crack, so feel the bat for a dent. My baseball trainer nailed a ball about 400+ feet and dented my bat so it sounds funny now. BUT if you aren't making good contact with the ball, then it could be the batter that's making the bat sound like that.

Maybe it's just time for a new bat. I could tell you if I had the bat to look at, but good luck with that girl!

This may depend on the type of bat.  With a double wall bat, the interior may be damaged and you will not see it on the outside.  The bat will make a funny sound and the ball will not come off the bat as well.
