last november, i was shopping at kohls, and found a pair of cleats for about $7.00, so i bought them, but i think they're soccer cleats. i played my slow pitch season in them this summer and had no problems, but for fast pitch, would i need acctual softball ones or would mine be okay? (i think the brand is like miken or something)

  1. Truly it's up to you and what your comfortable with.

The main and possibly only difference is the very front cleat.  Soccer cleats do NOT have this one cleat in the front, while Softball cleats do.

Now the reverse, it is against Soccer rules to play with Softball/baseball cleats as the front cleat is dangerous and can cause injury during play.

Honestly I have played both sports in both types of cleats and I prefer the soccer cleats.  But it's simply a personal preference.

Maybe it's simply the make/model that I've used...I've used cheap Baseball cleats and blistered up, while I used sub $200 soccer cleats and found that they were extremely comfortable.

    Have fun and best wishes!!!

  2. even though i play softball cleats a lot of my friends on my team play with soccer.  Both work, i guess

  3. Soccer cleats do not have a cleat at the very tip of the shoe.  Baseball/softball cleats do have that cleat.  You will miss out on being able to dig a toe in to start running.

Baseball/softball cleats with the toe cleat are not allowed in soccer.  That is what the refs look for when they check cleats before soccer games.

  4. The difference between Baseball/Softball cleats and Soccer are the shape and the arrangment of the cleats. Softball cleats can be low top or high top while soccer cleats are strictly low top. Also soccer cleats do not have a cleat on the tip of the shoe. They do this this for a couple of reasons. The first is because soccer players often use their toes and front of the foot to control the ball, a cleat at the nose of the shoe would make it difficult to do this. They also leave the front tip cleat off soccer shoes to help prevent injuries.
