Softtail or Hardtail?

Question

Should I get a softtail or a hardtail mt. bike. I want to ride around the city..and also on trails. I do like to jump when i can.

If i get a hardtail will i be disappointed??

Im guessing the softtails may be more expensive and out of my price range. if so would i be disappointed in settling for a hardtail or should i get the c**p from wally mart?

Hardtail for sure.   Unless you are gonna spend at least $1500, a fullie wont satisfy you.  You'll get a heavy bike and extra maintenance.    A lot of experienced riders (myself included) prefer hardtails anyway...............spend your money on good wheels and the fork instead of a rear shock, etc.

The lower maintenance hardtail of course. Plus the prices are  alot lower for one. By the way, NEVER even consider buying department stores bikes to ride.

for the price factor and riding around, you want a hardtail. Lots cheaper and easier maintenance.  a regular mountain bike or  a dirt jumping bike would be good for jumps and doing trails, and riding around. DONT go to wallyworld(you end up spending more money on fixing the bike then what you paid for it)

Hardtail will be just fine.  One piece of advice, since you like to jump, is make sure you have a good fork that is designed for jumping.  If it is a cheap fork you stand a chance of the fork failing.  Which when take a medium jump the fork could compress to much and fail, causing the spring to turn into a rocket and shoot out into your face.  Just warning you,  I just seen this happen.

well in your situation i would reccomend the harddtail becuase they are cheaper than fullies and with the kind of biking you say you do a fullie would not be needed. Fullies are more expensive and need too much matienence. also, NEVER buy a bike from any sort of department store ( including wallyworld) they will break once you get out of the store. well good luck
