Software Needed!?

Question

Does anyone know of a free software that allows you to record video on your computer from a camcorder. For example, I want the camera to be the lens, but I want the computer to record it. Almost as if I was taping a web-cam. Can anyone help me with this!

i've had a similar problem with my dcr 45 camcorder. if you dont have a firewire port on your camera then you cant stream anything. if you have only a usb port it wont work either, you'll need an s video cable to record onto your computer. good luck.
