On Monday, Pakistan’s penalty corner specialist and world record holder Sohail Abbas expressed his excitement over victory in Asian Games 2010.
He said that this achievement has been the biggest in his career and it served as a backup for him to continue getting with such rewards for his country in coming years.
He said that achieving such a big target has always been his dream since he started his career but unfortunately, he achieved it very late.
“I have always dreamt of accomplishing something special for Pakistan but, unfortunately, it couldn’t come earlier,” he said in an interview.

“In the past, luck eluded me in mega events but this time, due to the blessings of Almighty, we won the gold and I also contributed towards it, which was great,” he said.
Rehan Butt and Sohail Abbas played their best game against Malaysia in the final and each scored a goal leading Pakistan to victory after a long period of twenty years.
PHF president Qasim Zia also expressed his happiness and appreciated the role of senior players in wining the gold medal.
“I know I have scored the highest number of international goals in history. But winning gold by beating Malaysia was a different feeling altogether,” said Abbas.
He explained that getting an outstanding position has not been something unusual for him but this win against Malaysia really gave him a different feeling than previous experiences.
Sohail Abbas is one of the best penalty corner specialists and world record holder. His current goals after Asian Games are 313.
Abbas thanked Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for showing his support for all the players, but he mentioned that he still has not received the reward of Rs. 500,000 which was announced for him when he completed 300 goals.
Telling about the future, Sohail told that he has no intentions for retirement and he will continue playing for national team until he is fit.
Abbas really seemed overjoyed over after the recent win in Asian Games and had high spirits for upcoming events. After his brilliant recent performance, the team management and fans of Pakistan hockey team have high expectations from him in London Olympics
2012.
