Rawalpindi Rams' Skipper, Sohail Tanvir, commended his team for putting up a fair final bout against the Sialkot Stallions; however, the Captain did admit that lack of experience on his squad was one of the major causes for the Rams’ 10-run defeat on Sunday,
at the National Stadium, Karachi.
The Faysal Bank Twenty20 (T20) tournament finally came to its closure in Karachi, on October 2, 2011, after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions managed to secure the competition title for the sixth time in a row.
Opting to bat first, the Sialkot outfit came up with an imposing 181-run chase for the Rawalpindi Rams, thanks to the impressive batting contribution by the team’s top and middle order players, including high scorers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qaiser-Abbas-c2226 (44) and Skipper, Shoaib
Malik (43).
As for their response, the Rams took to the chase with a competitive start, courtesy to opener Naved Malik’s imposing whacks; however, soon after losing some early wickets, the team failed to retain its ground as the Stallion bowlers gave them no breathing
space.
During his post match comments, Tanvir said that his team had thought of dominating the opponents; however, with more experience on the Stallions’ roster, the Rawalpindi Rams failed to mark an eventual win.
“Our side has got a little bit of inexperience. We were in a right direction and spirit and were almost set to down Sialkot but at the end of the day they probably had more experience players in this competition - that's the only difference between us and
them that gave them the upper hand,” said Tanvir.
The skipper also stated that the Stallions were a great side to play against, but was not sure whether they deserved to win or not.
“This is all cricket, and sometime only one difference could swing away the game from you. But I am not disappointed as we fought hard and played positive cricket,” said a sporting Tanvir.
