  1. Soil is not only meant for anchorage of plants but also dynamic with active microflora and microfouna. The texture, structure,porosity, bulk density etc of soil affects the plant growth. Plant health and yield and quality of produce are directly correlated to soil health. So soil is a vital media for plants.


  2. Plants get most of their nutrients and water from soil.  Soils can differ in their fertility and structure, which can regulate what plants will grow well in those soils.  In turn, dead plant materials helps to build soil structure and fertility.  The list goes on, but soils and plants are engaged in a very intimate relationship.
