Soil can be described as acidic or alkaline. Which soil could benefit from the addition of rock phosphate?

Please help- i have no clue about gardening or fertilisers.

  2. Some soils are neutral,too.Before adding any supplements,buy an inexpensive soil testing kit,obtainable from many sources and establish the nature of the soil.

Most plants benefit from a slightly acidic soil, with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5, with 7.0 being neutral pH.  See the link below for a good general discussion of soil pH, soil types, and fertilizer requirements of plants.  Phosphorous (phosphate) is one of 16 nurtrients required by plants for healthy growth.  It is usually better to apply nutrients in a balanced, complete fertilizer, rather than applying them one nutrient at a time.

  4. Phosphorus from phosphate rock is one of several plant nutrients that are needed in any type of soil.  While the pH level can affect the solubility of the phosphorus in the soil, rock phosphate will not change pH at all.
