Soil composed of which particle size usually has the greatest capillarity?

Silt, Fine sand, Coarse sand, Pebbles.

Can somebody tell me which one, and tell me an explanation as well? (As brief as possible)

  1. pebbles or sand is not the answer

the bigger particle size, the bigger the spaces are in between the particles. if it was sand or silt, the particles would be packed in tighter and would have less space so the wwater could travel easier up ward. with more space in between, the water would just go back down.

    hope that helped =]
