Sol Campbell to get honeymoon if he joins Celtic
New Celtic boss Neil Lennon has said Sol Campbell can have a honeymoon if he signs for them this summer.
Celtic will be playing in a Champions League first-leg qualifier on July 28th-29th, and Campbell will be getting married to Fiona Barratt on July 17th. The Celtic boss has granted the Arsenal centre-half permission to go on honeymoon should he join the Scottish outfit.
Campbell will be out of contract with Arsenal soon, and he has only been offered a one-year deal to stay at the Emirates.
The 35-year-old said he will consider a move to Celtic if Lennon was appointed on a full-time basis as manager.
“I'm getting married on July 17th. But Neil's told me he's quite flexible, that if I need 10 days-two weeks honeymoon then he'll be fine with that. That really makes me happy because if I'm not happy, and my family's not happy, then you're not going to play your best football, are you?
"If I were to sign for Celtic then I'm likely to miss the first leg of the European tie. I don't know who Celtic will get, but hopefully it would be someone that would give them a good chance of progressing. It's a difficult one, but I can't move my wedding. Football's very important to me and I would give Celtic everything if I sign,” said Campbell.
Campbell was Arsenal’s stand-out player towards the end of a disappointing campaign last season.
However, a move to Celtic could yet prove to be a marriage made in heaven for Campbell.
