I checked http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/JSEX/JSEX-N... for an answer but then found that Anne Marie had probably done the same because her answers were in exact agreement with mine. I can't add much except to say that the next total eclipse in Poland, OH is predicted for the year 2444, so travel would seem to be essential in order to see one of these.

Hi Poland!

Your best shot will be the solar eclipse of April 8, 2024.

Almost all of northern Ohio sees a total eclipse of the sun that afternoon.  Poland is just a few miles outside the band of totality, but Niles and Warren OH are in it, so just a short drive to the other side of Youngstown will put you in place to see the most sublime spectable in all of nature.

There are a few partial eclipses of the sun you could see before 2024, but they will hardly be memorable if seen from Ohio:

- May 20, 2012 - You will see a nip just starting to be taken out of the sun as it is setting that evening.

- November 3, 2013 - The reverse happens: the sun rises with a nip out of it just as an eclipse is ending over Ohio

- October 23, 2014 - Another sundown eclipse, with 40% of the sun covered as it sets that evening.

- August 21, 2017 (one writer said "August 27" but that date is incorrect) - Ohio sees an 85% partial eclipse that afternoon.  It's total over Kentucky and Tennessee if you can drive down to see it.

- June 10, 2021 - Another 85% partial eclipse, this time at sunrise, but it's already coming to an end as the sun is rising over Ohio.

- October 14, 2023 - A 45% partial eclipse, at its best around 1 p.m.  To see the full eclipse, you'd have to go to Texas.
