  1. Hi Cheer!

We have several visible from the Eastern Time zone of the United States over the next twenty years.  Most are partial eclipses, but if you happen to be in the right place, two will be total eclipses of the sun:

    - The May 20, 2012 eclipse can be seen in the central and western parts of the country, west of a line from upstate New York to Georgia.  For those in the Eastern Time zone, it will only be a partial eclipse at sunset, but in the west along a line from California to Texas they will see an annular eclipse of the sun.

    - At sunrise November 3, 2013 the east coast from Ohio to Florida sees a partial eclipse.  This one is total only across central Africa.

    - October 23, 2014 the entire country except Maine and Hawaii sees a partial eclipse of the sun.  More than 60% of the solar disc is eclipsed in Michigan, with lesser partial eclipses elsewhere.  Nowhere is this eclipse total, however.

    - August 21, 2017 is the next total eclipse of the sun visible from the United States.  Totality runs along a line from Oregon to South Carolina, with all the rest of the country seeing a partial eclipse that day.

    - All of the eastern US as far south as South Carolina sees a partial eclipse at sunrise on June 10, 2021.  More than 80% of the sun is eclipsed in all of New England and upstate New York, growing less the further south you go.  This is an annular eclipse in northern Canada.

    - The entire country sees an eclipse October 14, 2023.  From Oregon to Corpus Christi, TX they'll see an annular eclipse.

    - The eclipse you're probably waiting for will be April 8, 2024.  That afternoon, from Texas to Maine, we'll see a total solar eclipse, with a deep partial eclipse for those not in the line of totality.

    - August 12, 2026 is a partial eclipse for the northeast, from Michigan to North Carolina, but with no more than 40% of the solar disc obscured in the US.  This eclipse is total in Spain.

    - Rounding out the catalog for the next 20 years, we'll see a slight partial eclipse the morning of January 26, 2028.  Not more than 30% of the solar disc is covered in Florida, which sees the most of this eclipse.  It's an annular eclipse in South America.

  2. The next total solar eclipse visible in the United States is August 21, 2017. Nine years from now.

  3. There will be an annular solar eclipse on January 26, 2009, and a total solar eclipse  on July 22, 2009.

Unfortunately, neither of these will be visible from the Western Hemisphere..
