Solar flare in the year of 2012

I heard that solar flare is going to happen again in the year of 2012. Is that true? If yes, I need more information and thanks for ur help!

People have been claiming the world was going to end pretty much since it dawned on them that it could end.  I am not very old but in my short life I have heard it was going to end no less then 4 times not counting the many times when a date wasn't given.

The world will end eventually but no one, and I mean no one, absolutely no one,knows when. So the next time you here that the world is going to end then say thank you because someone has saved you the trouble of wondering if they are a liar or a fool and identified themselves for you.

Solar flare happen all the time.

It's an 11 year cycle. But they happen all the time. If you're referring to a major solar flare, then no.

In the year 2012 Dec. 21st The Mayan calender stops and the earth and all the planets will be alighned with the supermassive black hole at the center of the milky way. Some say this will shift the earths poles and cause drastic climate change. Thats what some say. Have to wait and see. The earths atmosphere and magnetic field protects us from most solar flares and other things the sun throws into space.

The last solar maximum occured in 2001, and with a 11 eyar cycle, the next solar max is dues sometime in 2012. Solar flares are NOT predictable, do occur regularly (althoug they are of highly variable strength), so whoever is claiming there will be one (presumably destructive...) is talking throught his hat.

Scientists say that is going to happen because that the world is going to end with a solar flare or with an earthquake or something.  Scientists think this because of superstitions made from the past, but they say that they were wrong all the time and we just have to hope they are wrong this time too.

Like the guy above me said, the concern about 2012 comes from the Mayan calendar which has been scarily accurate at predicting astronomical phenomenon (eclipses, etc).

What people don't tell you is that no cataclysmic event is predicted at 2012, it's just where the calendar stops.  You gotta remember these people lived hundreds of years ago, even calculations up until 2012 weren't really necessary.

Take heed, but fear not for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Many pagan cultures (Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching {confirmed by T.McKenna}, Mayans, Egyptians, Celts, Satanists, etc...) celebrate this evil event called "the abomination that causes desolation". When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you. Either way it still comes.

Christians and Messianic Jews look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Messianic Saviour in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as "Children of Light". Flares are a lot more common during Solar Maximums (maximums in the 11 year cycle of solar activity).

Next maximum will be around 2012.  There will be solar flares.

I was observing sunspots over a few months in 2006 (not a maximum) and there was a flare just as I was observing.

Because of the intense magnetic field, solar material is projected high above the Sun's surface and takes the shape of the local magnetic field.  X-rays can be emitted (they were in the one I saw).

Charged particles are sent out (like a bump in the solar wind) and it can overload the Earth's magnetosphere, causing what is known as a geomagnetic storm.

There was a particularly nasty one in 1989 (during a maximum) that caused a power failure in the province of Quebec (Canada).

Very long transmission lines acted as "radio receivers" and the geomagnetic storm was perceived by the system as an electrical overload.  The grid shut down.

Since then, many electrical grids have installed protection.

Another problem is satellites.  If they get overloaded with static charge (for the charged particle) some of their systems may be damaged.

The 2012 maximum is NOT expected to be worst (nor more gentle) than any other maximum on record.  It's just that we rely a bit more on satellites now than we did a generation ago.
