  1. I've spoken to a few companies doing solar installs and the pay is similar to an electrician or HVAC installer. With an emphasis on experience so new installers will make quite a bit less than journeymen.

Obviously there are certifications you obtain and some companies offer growth into the commission based sales/installs as your best way to increase your earnings.

Demand for the occupation does depends on the area and current incentives - NJ and CA are good examples of states are are pushing for solar installer and companies are springing up to provide fill the need.

You are can check http://www.dsireusa.org/ for updated information about incentives.

Remember to check local and state colleges to see if they are offering installer courses that might indicate what the job demand is in your area.

Lastly, do a search of the solar installers directory

    http://findsolar.com

    http://www.solarelectricpower.org/

Contact a few companies see if they are hiring.

It is always best to have your research done about the company (sales, workforce, ect) and sell yourself as an asset to them comparing your skills to their needs.

    Good luck.

  2. It pays very well. There is a huge demand for alt. energy now!
