http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Soldado-c31367, has come out and said that it is the players who are to blame for the club’s poor run in the domestic league and not Pellegrino.
Pellegrino was sacked on Saturday evening after their 5-2 defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad at the Mestalla.
Soldado believes the team’s poor run in the domestic league this season is due to the players and because of that they should take responsibility for it.
The Spaniard said that his former coach did all that he could do and somehow things were not working for them.
“The Coach has proven himself day-to-day in training. But often what worked during the week didn’t work in the games.”
The striker remarked on the fact that when things go wrong people always deflect attention from themselves and put the blame on others.
“But I include myself in that; I am a part of this team. When things go wrong, we look to the sidelines and not to ourselves.”
The former Real Madrid player also mentioned that his team must figure out ways to improve their current form. He also admitted that it is the players who now feel the most responsibility for has prevailed at the club.
“Now we have to think about what we can do to improve the situation. It is the players who feel the greatest responsibility for the current situation.”
Finally, the 27-year-old stated that more things have to be done in order to turn things around at the Mestalla. He believes the players can do more and can also step up to the challenges ahead of them.
“There is no doubt that there is more we can do to change things. After what happened yesterday, I want to apologize to all the fans.”
The defeat to Sociedad was Valencia’s second consecutive loss after their earlier defeat to Malaga.
Los Che’s recent poor results in the Primera Division means they have slipped to the 12th position in the table standings and are now seven points adrift of the coveted fourth spot for Europe’s most prestigious competition.
