Soldiers: What would you like American citizens to do for you?

Question

I mean beyond the cards, letters, gifts sent in the mail, joining, and giving to the USO, etc.

Do you think your supporters should be louder than we are in the public arena at home?

Who do you believe are your supports, and with your advise, what else should we do, that we aren't?

I agree. We don't want to be pawns on either side of the race. I don't want democrats saying support our troops end the war and I don't want republicans saying we don't want our troops dying in vain.

My friend, a pilot, once said to me, "I support our troops and I really appreciate everything you have done, but i just don't think we can win."

I told him to look at that another way and I offered him this story...

"Your a pilot, now imagine your the Captain of a 747 with 400 passengers on-board, you turn onto final approach and put the landing gear down (wheels) and they don't come down. You call the control tower and tell them the problem requesting the longest runway and the fire equipment to be standing by. The Control tower responds by telling you that you are a great pilot and you can handle almost everything but there is no way that you can land a 747 with 400 passengers without wheels, its going to skid into a ball of fire and everyone is going to die. They are so sure tis is going to happen that they assign you the shortest runway because they dont want a crash on the long one, that will close the airport to other planes. You attempt to land on the short runway, skid of the end and burst into flames, the control tower says, See we knew that would happen, good thing we didn't assign the longer runway."

I thinks its a good illustration of what has happened in this country. People have told us that we support you and you are the best trained in the world, but you cant beat a bunch of poorly trained militia. Since we don't think you can win, we will pull the funding or cut the funding and training. Then these politicians can say, see, we said they couldn't do it and we were right, now vote for us.  

Support your troops, listen to what they say. We don't want to be there anymore then anyone else, we are away from our families and our lives, but if we are willing to do it and tell people that what we are doing is the right thing, then why are people so unwilling to accept what we have to say. Its like they thing we like 125 degree summers with sandstorms while getting shot at.

Support your troops, listen to us.

I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way

of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

While serving my country for 23 years I never did care about politics nor do I now.

Those who support our troops should voice an opinion such as we did in Berkley not to long ago. Those who don't also have been giving the freedom to express theirs.

I took an oath to defend and protect the United States and obey the orders from those who are appointed over me. I was not drafted, and I knew the situation that I was in and would do it all again if needed.

For those who do not serve and have negative comments and opinions then I say to them. Wear my boots and see what I have seen or keep your ignorant opinions to yourself because you are not accomplising anything.

For the Families,Friends and all who are with us. I say to them from my heart: Thank-you for everything that you have done because you are the ones that I will protect!
