  1. read that story earlier on - i really can't understand why someone would treat a solider that way (unless it wasn't a valid form of ID?) surely it's not because he was a serviceman - if that was the case then  the hotel should give the poor lad and his mates a free weekend stay

  2. I could not get the link you suggested.  However, the army do an incredible job and they have very little support.  There was a time servicemen were respected as they give up their lives for us civvies, everyday.  They put up with verbal and physical abuse not just by those who are on duty but from our own home towns.  My daughter who was in the TA's  was set upon by a gang of men (about 15) on her way back from an army exercise.  These men were all in their twenties and had been drinking.  They were in Cardiff watching the football.  My daughter had to have help to get to get back to base by the police.  She was wearing her uniform with pride but also was weighed down with back pack etc.  these men are cowards and I think they should bring back conscription.   By the way my daughter is only 5ft 3in and is a lovely girl who works hard.  she is no longer in the army which is a great shame.

  3. You think that's bad, wait and see if Obama get's elected.  You'll see an entire Armed Forces disbanded and treated horribly!

  4. go to TOXIC JUNCTION they have a bunch of crazy sh*t there, incidents you could not imagine were possible

  5. well no one forced them to join the army if i don't like my conditions at work i have to leave

  6. The link does not work for me, sorry can't view

  7. This was discussed at length on local radio. It happened in Woking the lad came from Wales.

The hotel are back pedalling madly and have apologised.

The person who turned him away was probably an uneducated jobs worth. They should give free weekends to any squaddie who comes home on leave as a little recompense. Failing that a substantial donation to a service charity.

  8. If I understand correctly, this happened in Whales...That is tragic. Isn't Whales a modern country? Don't they have laws against that type of discrimination?

Granted American military haven't always been treated properly (especially during Vietnam era) but we have laws...People here are afraid of being sued. Or boy-cotted by veteran's groups. If a story broke loose about that it would p**s people off...

I think that is a sad story. Why wouldn't his own country men accept him?

If he came here we would put him in a hotel...but everyone would want to listen to his accent...

I'm former military and I was fortunate that I didn't have that type of blatant disrespect. I had a few incidents that were questionable, but nobody ever treated me that bad. I feel for the poor guy.
