Sole Power to defend his title at Haydock for the Betfred.com Temple Stakes on 26th May, 2012
Sole Power, son of Kyllachy, out of Demerger, will have an opportunity to secure the same glorious victory which he achieved last year, when he crushed his competition in the Group 2 Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock on 21st May,
2011.
With rider, K. Latham on his back, he swiftly covered the 5 furlong distance and finished ¾ of a length ahead of the Sir Michael Stoute trained, Kingsgate Native.
This year, the event is scheduled to take place on 26th May, 2012, where he will take on eighteen other runners in order to defend his title. Trained by Edward Lynam, the gelding has had his fair share of success in his career,
but it is definitely not enough.
The Mrs. S. Power owned bay gelding has competed in two starts this season, and finished as a runner-up in both.  It is now the right time for him to step up, raise the bar and claim a victory.
Commenting on the condition of the track, Eddie Lynam said: "If the forecast is correct, conditions should be fine for him. The horse has put on a good bit of weight since he came back from Dubai and he seems in very good form. - his work has been
good.”
Due to the unavailability of jockey, Johnny Murtagh, Lynam is anxious to find another rider for the five-year-old.
"We have to go and look for a jockey for the horse now. I have to speak to him, but I would imagine that Johnny will have to ride for John Oxx at the Curragh on the same day. I think after Haydock, the plan for Sole Power will be Royal Ascot, York
and Paris."
Sole Power ran an exceptional race at Meydan in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD on 31st March, 2012. Paired with J. Murtagh, he brought his best forth and raced with determination.
The gelding had all the elements working in his favour including the speed, stamina along with the market support, but it seemed that luck left his side in the last few minutes as he finished 1 ¼ lengths behind, Ortensia.
This race will allow Sole Power to redeem himself with a well-deserved victory.
