Sole Power to score in the Betfred.com Temple Stakes for the second time in a row
Sole Power will aim to take home the money in the Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock for the second time in a row.
The son of Kyllachy, out of mare Demerger, seized the victory in the Group 2Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock on 21st May, 2011, where he was under the guidance of jockey, K. Latham. He claimed the victory as he finished
¾ of a length ahead of, Kingsgate Native.
Today he will attempt to regain former glory on a track that has been labelled good to firm, competing over a distance of five furlongs against twelve other runners.
The bay gelding has demonstrated his skill at many different tracks, and he will be aiming to down the victory this time as well.
The Mrs. S Power owned runner faced a setback after the win at Ascot, but he bounced back this season.
This will be his first race of the season at Haydock, as he raced at Meydan in his first two starts of the season.
The five-year-old bay gelding finished as a runner-up in the Meydan Sprint Sponsored By Emirates Sky Cargo (Conditions Race) on 10th March, 2012, where he was close to the victory, but his luck ran out as he finished a short-head
behind the winner, Invincible Ash.
The Edward Lynam trained runner ran as a favourite in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD on 31st March, 2012, with an 11-2 shot of winning.
Despite the combination of all the winning elements, he again missed the victory and finished behind Paul Messara’s charge Ortensia, this time by a slightly larger margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
Paired with jockey Paul Hanagan, Sole Power will enter the race from post number 4, and will bring his best to the table and notch another impressive victory.
Edward Lynam is confident about his form and his recent work-outs as he said:
“He's in good form and travelled over Friday morning. Everything's gone very well and he's taken everything in his stride. The good to firm ground looks ideal, my only hope is they don't over-water."
