I am located in the metro-Atlanta area of Georgia and I am interested in operating a sole proprietorship under a business name. I will have no employees. The nature of my business is mostly tutoring, but also graphic design and transcription. I am aware that some services require a license....

Do I need a license to do these?

  1. You will need to go to the city hall where your business is based and apply for a business license the cost is usually under $75. Next you need a business checking account, go to a bank of your choice and open one, they will advise you as to the steps needed. You will not be able to deposit checks made out to your business without a business checking account.
