Question:

Solid state tweeter/midrange amplifier for bass...

Hi all, I've been considering making a separate amplifier for my compression driver (80W 8ohms) when I noticed that at those levels, it might be easier to use an IC. The two I'm considering are the TDA 8591J and the TDA 7560 both can drive a 2 ohm signal but the tda 8591 can drive up to 4x75W into 2 ohms. Isn't it possible to bridge this little amp for 2x4-8 ohms (min 88-150W!!!) or 1x8 Ohms 300W? That would make just the right kind of amp for my needs (40W 1.5kHz - 17kHz mid/tweet.) With a 12dB 1.5kHz high pass filter on the front end it would make things easier in a good few situations. cb
