  1. So far I have done sweet potato, apple, mashed banana. Going to do some potato. Heard you can do carrots and zucchini. All mashed/pureed of course. Sometimes I mix with farax, sometimes just on their own. Not sure what else I will do, you can do most things though. Over here you get hand outs from your health nurse about what foods to introduce at what ages. I am sure there are some helpful websites around though. My son really hasn't had a great deal yet though. No hurry though since hes still a bit young. Some days he has a bit, some days he just has his breastmilk. Up to you, you know your baby. He really loves his food though, gets very excited about eating.

    Good luck

  2. Honestly I have never met a mom that regrets doing baby-led introduction solids.  It really prevents picky eaters, and its so easy.

    Pureed baby food is 'unnatural'

Spoon-feeding babies pureed food is unnatural and unnecessary, a childcare expert has warned.

Gill Rapley, deputy director of Unicef's UK Baby Friendly Initiative said feeding babies in this way could cause health problems later in life.

She said children should be fed only with breast or formula milk for six months, then weaned onto solids to improve control over how much they ate.

This could prevent babies becoming picky about food.

Mrs Rapley has spent 25 years as a health visitor, and she said: "I found so many parents were coming to me with the same problems - 'my child is constipated, my child is really picky' - and they couldn't get them on to second stage baby food."

    Solids best

After six months, Mrs Rapley said babies were capable of taking food into their mouths and chewing it.

Therefore, feeding them pureed food at this time could delay the development of chewing skills.

Instead, she said, they should be given milk and solid pieces of food which they could chew.

Mrs Rapley argued that babies fed pureed food had little control over how much food they ate, thus rendering them vulnerable to constipation, and running a risk that they would react by becoming fussy eaters later in life.

She blamed the food industry for convincing parents that they should give children pureed food.

She said: "Sound scientific research and government advice now agree that there is no longer any window of a baby's development in which they need something more than milk and less than solids."

  3. pumpkins, mash potatos.peas, most vegies can be pureed if you have a good machine, fruits as well for deserts- apples, pears, bananas with a little milk.

  4. OK, there are a couple of ways to start feeding solids once your son is 6 months old.

You can go the baby led weaning (BLW) route where the baby self feeds them self all foods...steamed veggies, fruit, anything they can pick up and put in their mouth....I know you think they will choke, they will not!

Another way is the way of feeding your baby purees...either ones you make or purchase.  I started with purees, then after a few months, moved to BLW.  One great website for making your own purees is

People will tell you to start with orange veggies, then green.  Or no fruits first because the will not like veggies....these are all old wives tales, with no bases in reality.

I would still stay away from highly allergenic foods,(peanuts, nuts, eggs, etc) especially if there are allergies in your family.
