Free Market (GOD) said higher energy price will force consumers to save energy by:

1) Drive less

2) CarPool

3) Recycle/reuse products instead of purchasing a brand new products

4) We don't need A/C. We have windows.

5) Public Transportation (Train, Bus, etc)

6) Bicycles

7) We don't need a dryer machine. We can hang clothes

8) Many more

Free Market, our god, said enough is enough

  1. I do it will certainly slow down over consumption. While still not impacting the business industry so much. Because look less expenses, because they have to buy less raw materials or inventory whatever. And the consumers or margins that are lost will be compensated by the higher prices, odds are they won't loose much money. Is a win win situation in my opinion.

  2. Well, I think your answer is singular in a multi-facet issue.  It is going to take a lot of solutions from a variety of sources to curb global warming.  First, let me make clear that consumers are limited in what they are offered.  What I mean by that is... the Motor 3 in Detroit have spent billions of dollars in Washington to have the market their way.  We as consumers can do more when the Motor 3 stops fighting Congress pushes to increase mpg.  Furthermore, when car manufacturers start acting more responsibly (for the public interest) and offering consumer more choices (i.e cars that run on multiple fuel types) and make them available to the mass market we as consumers can do more of our part when it comes to transportation.

On housing, that is again a multi-faceted area where Americans and other industrialized countries could do a h**l of a lot more.  There are only a few states that offer rebates for homeowners that upgrade there windows (a major loss of heat/air is through windows/doors), insulation, water heaters.  Fewer still offer rebates for alternative nrg sources.   Clean nrg's are the answer to curbing emission and affecting change when it comes to global warming.

Some places are just to d**n hot to live without a/c completely.  However,  we can be more nrg efficient in our useage of it.  The insulation I referred to earlier plays a huge role in nrg efficiency in homes.  I think all homeowners should be given an incentive to have an energy audit conducted for their home.  This will inform them of things they can do to waste less and conserve more.  I think that every American, every person on the planet for that matter, has a role of responsibility it "thinking and living" green.  It has to become a way of life.  Back to home energy efficiency...Whole house fans will keep homes cool and use less power on the a/c unit but many home do not have them.  They are not a standard inclusive item when homes are built.

I believe homebuilders should also play a positive role in building more energy efficient homes as a standard not some voluntary bs.

Congress has dragged its heels for decades when it comes to helping everyday Americans/consumers play a role in energy efficiency.  When they decide to actually do some work on positive energy policies that benefit all of us instead of the "payola" pack money groups then we as a society can move forward.

Americans can do their part in hanging clothes out to dry but it won't eliminate the need for dryers.  Dryers are still necessary but if folks would think about when they use them it would be helpful to the environment.  It is a known fact that if every person would run their dryers/dishwashers and other energy consumptive appliance during the coolest times of day (usually before 10 am and after 7 pm) that can save energy.  Retooling how we do things with the environment in mind is easy.  It just requires consideration and knowledge and then practice.  Lastly, for anyone that read this please think about water conservation as well!  Don't water your lawn in the middle of the day when the temp is above 80 degrees out.  50 percent of the water evaporates and it is wasted.  That is one thing that drives me nuts when I see it.  Water is everyones issue and water wasters ruin it for all of us.  Water in the evenings or early mornings if you have to water at all.  Try Xerioscaping.  Look it up on google if u don't know the term.

  3. I don't think it is a solution to global warming, but certainly increasing the price will lower the use of the commodity

  4. When oil prices go up, users switch to cheaper alternatives such as coal.

  5. It will help.

But people are still buying SUV's to take one person to the grocery store over paved roads.

We're very rich, and think we can afford to do dumb things.  Until Mother Nature gives us a dose of reality.

  6. No,it will only take away money needed for other things like your home, food, clothes.Making your life harder, not more energy conscious.Wages have not gone up.Car pool won't work in most cases. If you recycle-reuse all the time jobs are lost because no one is buying the goods.AC is necessary in many buildings, some schools have no windows that can be opened, why should I give up mine so prisoners can have theirs? There is not one public transportation service where I live.I am too old to ride bike everywhere. Most cities and towns will not let you hang clothes outside especially undies.I see no reason to hang these items in my living room.Sorry you will have to do better than that,it just doesn't work.We may all have to do some things in the future but lots of ordinances and laws will have to be changed.I suggest you start on that now and I may be able to benefit from it when the time comes. And sorry you can not presume to know what God says is enough,I believe he will let us know when he is ready,I also believe its his world and he is fully in charge of it.You did ask the question. We have all thought of these things and they are small and not hard to do however higher gas prices will only bring hard times and sorrow for all.

  7. How's this.

"Global Warming" is a B.S. cottage industry, a current Y2K if you will.

Higher energy costs will cause some folks to change the way they use energy, but the biggest change we will see, is an increase in crime, as a new "energy black market" emerges.

  8. I do not understand why you think you know whats best for other individuals. Sacrifice for others is a good thing, forcing people to live the way you want is neither good or noble.
