I asked this once before but I got answers the would involve installing a fold out bed in my wall which i can't do because I rent. I have this cute little apartment with a ridiculously small sleeping area. Right now I have two thin futon mattress on the floor which I fold out but now i'm starting to have back problems. I'm a student and don't want to spend a ton of money. If I could find a futon that folds out long ways instead of the way most seem to fold out it would be great, but I can't find one.

  1. Get a loft bed. You can put things underneath the bed--a desk, a dresser, boxes, etc. I think some of these come in full sizes. Then I would attach a curtain to the rails so that the storage can be hidden. For an idea of what these look like, see the Ikea reference below.

I have seen chairs with fold out cots. The site I listed below the Ikea link has an expensive chair, but it gives you an idea of what I'm talking about.

I searched "loft bed" on the Ikea website and "fold out chair" on Google.

  2. They make units with shelfs and stuff kinda like something that goes in an office that has a bed built in it that folds back in to the unit. (It is really hard to explain) So basically you set the unit up and put it in the room and fold the bed out when you need it. (There a doors covering the bed so it doesn't look tacky. I am not sure how much they are. Hope you find something that works 4 u!

  3. Well there are the fold up cots that fold up the opposite way that most futons do.  Or you might be able to go for the blow up mattress, but that is a hassel blowing it up every night.  That is all that I can think of right now.

  4. Get a day bed with storage under it.
