  1. You can find sources at http://www.waterwisensw.com.au/

  2. Where I live we are in another drought, if we have another dry winter we will be in a severe drought, with water rationing. I put a link to my cities water conservation page. Thirty years ago I suffered through water rationing. Here is a list of what was required.

-It was illegal to water lawns or wash cars.

-we put bricks in our toilet tanks to reduce the amount of water used to flush.

-we only flushed when there was solid waste. They used the slogan, "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down."

-we could only sponge bath during the week, then only use 5 gallons for a once a week bath.

-it was illegal to have the water on for public drinking fountains, school showers, water fountains, pools or any other nonessential use.

We haven't learned our lesson and we are nearing rationing again. There are many things we can do, and in CA we are going to require new buildings to reduce their water usage.

Here are some ideas that will conserve water and should be mandatory in my state.

    -dual flush toilets

-no more grass lawns. Grass is a high water use crop with now yeild. My city is paying people to remove it and put low water use landscape in.

    -water capture systems

-gray water use for flushing and landscape. My city already uses processed gray water for public landscape irrigation.

-low flow or flow restrictors on all faucets and shower heads. Size restrictions on bathtubs.
