  1. 7^(x+1)=4^(2x)

    ln[7^(x+1)]=ln[4^(2x)]

    (x+1)ln7=(2x)ln4

    xln7 + ln7 = 2ln4 + xln4

    xln7 - xln4 = 2ln4 - ln7

    x(ln7-ln4) = 2ln4 - ln7

    x = (2ln4 - ln7) / (ln7 - ln4)

    Or more simplified : x = 1 + ln4/(ln7 - ln4)


  2. 7^(x+1)=4^(2x)

    7x+1 = 8x

    1 = 1x

    x=1
