Solve 8/v=9/v-1/2? please help me find the steps to get the answer?

I just want help fnding the lcm. I think it is 2v, or 2v^2 but i am not sure. normally those problems I work on have like 3 and 5 and x, not v and v and 2

To find the LCM, ask yourself 'What is the simplest expression into which 2 will divide and v will divide?' The answer is 2v.

However, you don't really need that for this question.

8 / v = 9 / v - 1 / 2

Subtract 8 / v from each side:

0 = 1 / v - 1 / 2

Add 1 / 2 to each side:

1 / 2 = 1 / v

Take reciprocals:

v = 2.
