  1. 1/Y = 1/G +1/F

    1= Y/G + Y/F

    1= Y(1/G + 1/F)

    Y = 1/ (1/G +1/F)

  2. Multiple both sides by Y

    Y= (1/G)Y +(1/F)Y

  3. 1/Y=1/G+1/F

    First step is to get rid all of the fractions by multiplying by the lowest common denominator YGF

    GF=YF+YG

    Factor out the Y

    GF= Y (F+G)

    Divide by F + G

    GF/F +G = Y

  4. 1/Y = 1/G + 1/F

    1/Y = F/GF + G/GF

    1/Y = (F + G)/GF

    therefore Y = GF/(F+G)

  5. 1/y=f/gf+g/gf

    y=gf+fg
