  1. Finger tricks is just a way to solve Rubik's cube faster by turning the sides with your finger.

    The finger trick video:

This is just part one! You should find part 1.5 at the site.

If you want to use another method, then you should go look it up, or you can go to:

    http://www.rubiks.com/Academy.aspx

and click on Tyson Mao Video.

I don't know whether this is another method or not, but I think it is.

And also lubricate your cube. You can learn this from the first website part 1.5

    Hope this helps!!!!

    Good Luck!!!

  2. I see the users who've before me know what they're talking about =D

I'd like to add to their advice, though.

There're many MANY ways to get faster. The most common and most effective way to improve is by a few methods.

    1. LEARN FINGER TRICKS! This is super important. Finger tricks are... simply flicking a layer of the cube w/ your finger. This will decrease your time immensely, especially if you know how to use em right. Thrawst of YouTube has a great tutorial on this.

    2. Use silicone. Silicone will make your cube faster, as well as less hard to turn, if that's how it is now XD Just apply it to the inside of your cube... Thrawst can show you that too XP

    3. There're little... bits of logic, tricks, and concepts you can learn to further increase your understanding of the cube and decrease your times. You can find this on MANY cuber sites, look around yourself =]

    4. Learn a faster method. As far as I know, the fastest mainstream methods are Fridrich, Roux, and Petrus. W/ Leyan's beginner method and the above tips you'll only get down to... 30 sec before hitting a roadblock. The three methods mentioned WILL make you faster w/ practice... Yu Nakajima, current World Champion, has achieved times of 8 seconds w/ Fridrich method!

I'd give you more info but I'm being forced to sleep >.>

or go to youtube and type in finger tricks

  4. Practice doing it slowly but thinking about each thing before you do it. You want to be able to move smoothly from one step to the next. To accomplish this, you need to be doing one step while thinking about the next one. Studies have shown that people who practice complicated things slowly tend to learn to do them correctly at a fast speed, but if you try to do it as fast as you can every time you practice, then you're just going to reinforce the mistakes that are slowing you down (usually having to stop and figure out what to do next). I am by no means an expert, but my best time is about a minute. I only go fast when I'm getting timed. The rest of the time I am trying to be as perfect as possible and going at a manageable pace.
