=&gt; - (2x + 7) &lt;11

=&gt; (2x + 7) &gt; - 11

=&gt; x&gt; -9

if x=-7/2 , then substituting x=-7/2  we get 0&lt;11 which is true

so, x belongs to (-9, 2)
