    1/4x + 2/3y= -5/4

    3x + 8y = -15

    3x= -15 - 8y------ eqn. 1

    3x-y^3=12-------- eqn. 2

    Substituting eqn.1 into eqn. 2

    3x-y^3=12

    -15 - 8y -  y^3= 12

    y^3 + 8y + 27 = 0

    y= ~ -2.14 (to 2 dp)

    Substitution y= ~ -2.14 into eqn.1

    x= ~0.72 (to 2 dp)

    b)

    √50

    = √(25*2)

    =√((5^2)*2)

    =5√2
