The logic

Four children (two boys named Colin and Vic, and two girls named Ellie and Missy) found a package of plastic prehistoric animals in an old toy chest. The animals represented four species, and each species was a different color. Each child took all the figures of one species, and it turned out there was a different number (five, six, eight, or ten) of each. Can you determine each child’s choice of animal, its color, and how many of each animal there were?

Here are the clues:

1. There were twice as many allosaurs (which weren’t yellow) as there were of Ellie’s species.

2. The child who liked the tyrannosaurus rexes ended up with two or more animals than the boy who chose the green animals.

3. Vic, who didn’t pick the pink figures, didn’t choose the diplodocuses.

4. The brontosaurs were purple.
