how do i solve for r if I=prt

i don't get how you can solve for just letters!!!

  1. i=prt   isolate the r by dividing everything away from it

    i/pt=prt/pt

    i/pt=r  (r is now isolated giving you what it is equal to)


  2. P, r and t are variables that have been multiplied together (like 3(2)(6)). You can divide out the P and t to get r by itself. Remember, what you do to one side of an equation you do to the other. Then, r=i/Pt. Letters are just like numbers, it could be any number, but have faith that you're solving for one just as they should.

  3. Letters are just placholders for numbers you don't have

    Just solve it for r by doing the "do the same thing to both sides"

    i=prt

    i/p  = prt/p

    i/p=rt

    i/p/t = rt/t

    i/p/t=r

    or if that is confusing r = i/(pt)
